Composer Commentary

In July 2013, I served as Composer in Residence for Lutheran Summer Music, a month-long music academy for high school musicians. “Our Father, We Have Wandered” was composed for LSM’s annual Hymn Festival, which is presented during the program’s final week, and was premiered by the Chapel Choir under the direction of Dr. Karen Black. The tune name, Decorah, is a nod to the town in Iowa where Luther College (host site of Lutheran Summer Music that year) is located.
