"O Love That Will Not Let Me Go" was written at the request of Grace Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, Virginia, to honor their long-time member The Reverend V. A. Moyer Jr., who had grown up in that parish and then went on to become a pastor and later a synodical president and bishop. To precede the familiar hymn text I added some verses from Psalm 139 about how God searches for us and holds us firmly in divine love. I wanted to create a musical setting that expressed the profound and intense nature of the psalm verses and hymn text. The rich tones of the viola are integral to the overall sound.
