Composer Commentary

Traditional hymns have always been a good source of my musical inspirations. Traditional hymn melodies help me connect to God during service and prayer. The titles of My Soul Proclaims were selected from some of the most loved hymns and those are also my favorites. Arranging the hymn titles, I have incorporated non-traditional harmonies and jazz harmonies, adding rhythmic ideas to make the traditional hymns sound more contemporary in style. I hope these well-known hymns can be used for both traditional and contemporary services connecting the generations.
