Choirs who love “Before the Marvel of This Night” by Carl Schalk will enjoy this alternative accompaniment by John Ferguson for 3-4 octave handbells and harp (or guitar and double bass instead of harp). This is a fantastic way to refresh this anthem, especially on Christmas Eve when extra instrumentalists might already be available. The choir should sing from the Schalk choral octavo. Note that these parts are not designed to be compatible with Carl Schalk’s organ or instrumental parts, but instead provide a lovely alternative arrangement.
