Composer Commentary

A performance by the Blind Boys of Alabama on a PBS special singing "Amazing Grace" to the tune of HOUSE OF THE RISING SUN inspired me to create this choral arrangement. Very familiar hymns often take on a new meaning when paired with another tune. I think the marriage of text and tune here work very well and I hope singers and listeners alike will appreciate this union.
