Composer Commentary

In the Summer of 2011, I stumbled upon an old book at a Historical Society sale in my town, titled, Songs for the Sanctuary. The book was published in 1869 and included many old hymn texts. One of the texts that struck me was William B. Tappan’s “There Is an Hour of Hallowed Peace.”
