Suite on Marching to Zion
This four movement suite by Wayne Wold was commissioned to be performed at the 2003 Organ Historical Society summer conference. Each movement reflects a different stanza of the text. The second movement, Passacaglia, is based on an ostinato that contains all twelve tones of the chromatic scale, with a tone-painting concept that clearly interprets the text, "Let those refuse to sing who never knew our God." This is yet another example of Wold's accessible yet thoughtful approach to composing music for church organists.
