Augsburg Fortress

This hymn is found in the collection Peace Be Still: Hymns of Susan Palo Cherwien, Vol. 3, which includes an original hymn tune by David Cherwien. Here, Cherwien has expanded on the original setting, creating a tender anthem for SATB choir, organ, and flute, ideal for communion and sacramental use. The comforting tune draws the listener in and reflects the need of God’s presence in our lives. Opening stanzas are sung in unison, a middle stanza is beautifully set for full SATB choir, and the final stanza is in unison with a descant.
